Mountain
A superbly filmed, meditative documentary about the lure of mountains
Move along, now. Haven’t you people got homes to go to? Fortunately for those eager to flee the bosoms of their families over the festive period, the cinema industry carries on as usual, with multiplexes taking just the one day off. Your big Boxing Day film this year is the P.T. Barnum musical, The Greatest Showman.
Elsewhere, there are still Christmassy films on screen right up to the big day. And as you emerge blinking into sunlight (TBC) after that Boxing Day comedown, the Watershed opens the new 4K reissue of A Matter of Life and Death as well as bringing back some of their favourite films of the year, including La La Land, Moonlight, The Death of Stalin and Get Out. Should you be in the mood for hoofing, they’re also screening Alive & Kicking with a swing dance demonstration. And over at the City Museum, the Bristol Film Festival presents its immersive screenings of the original Jumanji. As usual, follow the links for screening times and go here for our comprehensive film listings.
