Espensen Spirit launches a new series of screenings with a themed Barbie event for Mother’s Day
Best known to local film enthusiasts for running the official cocktail bar at the Forbidden Worlds Film Festival and at screenings for the Bristol Bad Film Club and South West Silents, Espensen Spirit are striking out on their own with a series of film events in collaboration with Twentieth Century Flicks.
First up is a ‘Mothering Sunday’ screening of Barbie at the former IMAX cinema in Bristol Aquarium on March 10 (which also happens to be Oscars day).
“This screening is open to anyone over 15, and is very LGBTQ+ friendly,” Sam Espensen tells us. “The event is to celebrate mother figures, which come in myriad forms and are not necessarily blood relatives.
is needed now More than ever
“In typical Espensen Spirit fashion, you can expect ridiculously named but seriously good cocktails and mocktails. There will be a themed bar area to hang out before the screening starts, and snacks and food available from the Aquarium cafe. There will also be local beer and soft drinks.”
Doors open at 2pm, with the film on screen at 3.30pm. You’re invited to dress up as Barbie (or Ken), but this is in no way mandatory. Advance tickets cost £10 and are available here.
