Chart copyright Comscore

Critically fancied historical epic The Woman King had to settle for second place behind reigning champ Smile at the weekend. Trade journal Screen Daily reports that the hit horror is the first 18 rated film to top the chart in more than two years (Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, being the last one). David O. Russell’s Amsterdam was the only other new release to make the top five, leaving The Lost King – the latest film to roll off the whimsical, uplifting Britcom factory’s production line – struggling to find its audience in seventh place. After 15 weeks on release, Minions: The Rise of Gru is now the longest-serving film in the chart and is very slowly closing on the £47.8m take of the first Minions flick.
