Wes Craven might be long gone, but the achingly meta Scream franchise trundles on. Buoyed by generally positive reviews, Scream VI deposed rival franchise entry Creed III and opened ahead of sci-fi action flick 65 to top the chart. Ghostface’s New York adventure is already doing better than the previous episode, which suggests there’s be plenty more Screaming to come. Bobby Farrelly’s feelgood sports comedy Champions did rather less well, opening in eighth place, just ahead of Hindi-language romcom Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar. We’ll have to wait until next week to find out whether the Oscar ceremony has had any impact on the UK box office.
