Despite mixed reviews, Bullet Train hit number one with – oh, go on then – a bullet. The Brad Pitt action-comedy was the weekend’s only major new release and caused the next six titles to shuffle down a place. Once again, the box office was hit by the weather. But two current releases continue to buck the trend by holding up strongly with only a small decline in takings. Elvis remains in the top five after seven weeks, while Top Gun: Maverick is now up to a massive £77.5m. The big question now is whether the latter has the staying power to overtake Titanic (£80.3m) in the UK all-time chart. Boy band Westlife’s event cinema outing Live From Wembley Stadium was the only other new release to make the top ten. This put it just ahead of NT Live’s Prima Facie, which has reached a hugely impressive £3.1m.
