‘Gear under the hammer’
Bristol businessman Johnny Palmer, who ran an events company linked to a refitted Boeing 727, is to auction off a large section of high-end gear after the company was acquired by a Leicester-based firm.
PYTCH, which operated from Skyline Park in Brislington for 25 years, entered a new chapter late last year when it was sold to Premier Events.
A businessman with many concurrent ventures, Palmer will now shift his focus to his property, accommodation, and software ventures, while also campaigning for environmental causes, such as improving water quality in Bristol’s rivers to promote “wild swimming.”
Following the acquisition, surplus AV gear from PYTCH, valued at around £1 million, will be auctioned off.

The auction will be conducted by the renowned auctioneers Landwood Group, who will oversee the two-day event
Among the 1,600 individual lots, the Calrec Summa digital audio mixing desk and the user-friendly, energy-efficient Summa console are expected to spark a bidding competition on the day.
The auction will be conducted by the renowned auctioneers Landwood Group, who will oversee the two-day event.
Despite the significant interest in the Boeing 727, Palmer has confirmed that it is not for sale and will remain under his stewardship, operating as part of the PYTCHAir Airbnb experience.

On the sale, Palmer said: “This high-spec AV kit has played a huge role in the success of my PYTCH business, powering major events and productions for years. But after two decades in the industry, it’s time to step back and focus on growing my property, accommodation, and software ventures further.
“Teaming up with Landwood Group ensures that this gear will find the right buyers. It’s a fantastic opportunity to acquire top-quality audio-visual and production equipment, and I’m pleased to see it go to new homes where it will continue to make an impact.”
As an additional incentive for anyone spending over £40,000 at the auction, a one-night midweek stay at the refitted Boeing has been written into the terms and conditions.

Jeff Wignall, director at Landwood Group, commented: “This is a rare opportunity to acquire top-tier, meticulously maintained audio-visual equipment at a fraction of the usual cost.
“With 1,600 lots up for grabs, there’s something for everyone, whether you’re a seasoned professional or just starting out.”
