‘Clean graffiti’ protest marks streets of Old City
Ahead of the planned rally calling for a People’s Vote on Brexit on Saturday, August 11, a group of young people from Our People, Our Choice (OFOC) took to the streets around St Nicholas Market to encourage others to join them in their pro-European stance.
They used a stencil to create ‘clean graffiti’ on the pavement, bearing the slogan: Brexit breaks Bristol or Bristol breaks Brexit? “We help young people to fight their frustration and anger, which is caused by Brexit and current politics,” Cherry, a Bristolian supporter of OFOC told Bristol24/7. “We hope that today’s actions and graffiti design will inspire young people to be more politically active and aware.”

Femi Oluwole, co-founder of OFOC: “Brexit threatens Britain’s prosperity and culture, and job will be lost. We’re aiming to mobilise young people across the country to become more politically aware so that government doesn’t throw our futures away.”
Alice Muller: “It is for the young people to construct the future. Brexit will affect the new generation the most, which is why we need to act and keep Europe open to everyone.”
Suzie Beckley (right): “I study languages. Language learning is rapidly growing in Europe, maintaining a good relationship between Britain and Europe. If Brexit happens, such great relations would break and make languages even harder to learn.”
