Black Water: Abyss

With no major new film releases due for a while yet, it’s a perfect opportunity for lower-budget fare to grab their post-lockdown moment in the sun before the tidal wave of blockbusters breaks.

Something of a low-budget mash-up of The Descent and Crawl, this cheap’n’cheerful Australian killer croc flick has a quintet of eminently scoffable adventurers trapped in an underground cave system that’s been flooded after a tropical storm. Also present is a rather large crocodile who’s feeling a tad peckish. A veteran of the aquatic creature feature, Andrew Traucki directed the original Black Water and shark attack shocker The Reef.
