Terminally ill 16-year-old Australian Milla (Eliza Scanlen) experiences first love with Moses (Toby Wallace). Sweet, huh? Except that Moses is a homeless 23-year-old junkie and drug dealer, which doesn’t go down too well with Milla’s nice middle-class folks, psychiatrist Henry Finlay (Ben Mendelsohn) and his wife Anna (Essie Davis).

The feature debut of Shannon Murphy, who directed two epsiodes of Killing Eve, Rita Kalnejais‘s adaptation of her own stage play is a raw and gritty drama that dodges most of the mawkish, manipulative and tiresome cliches of the lucrative teen cancer romance industry.
