Basejumper leaps off Suspension Bridge in viral video

By Mia Vines Booth  Friday Mar 8, 2024

A Bristol base jumper has gone viral after filming himself jumping off Clifton Suspension Bridge.

Joe Redmond has garnered a following on Instagram where he posts videos of himself carrying out various hairraising air sports stunts.

The 33-year-old has flung himself off some of the UK’s most majestic cliff edges, including Cheddar Gorge and the Jurassic Coast.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

But he took to the Suspension Bridge for his latest stunt, landing next to unassuming cars on the Portway beneath.

Many users praised Redmond’s bravery and in one user’s opinion, his ability to make Bristol “look cool”. But others criticised his decision, describing the base jumper as irresponsible, and a danger to passing cars below.

In another video, the base jumper can be seen climbing over security to jump off the suspension bridge, bypassing the security below him.
