Review: Singalonga Frozen, Bristol Hippodrome
Unless you have a Frozen Heart, you can’t have failed to notice the astronomical success of Disney’s animated film Frozen.
Despite being released in 2013, it continues to build momentum with shops running short of merchandise at Christmas and the second Panini sticker book just published.
Outside the Bristol Hippodrome on Saturday, hundreds of mini Elsa and Anna lookalikes gathered as Sing-a-Long-a Frozen played in the main theatre – the full film with handy lyrics during the songs.
For the First Time in Forever, we met a new character, the sister of the shop and spa owner who Princess Anna and Kristoff encounter, who did a little turn before the movie flickered into life.
“Do You Want to Build a Snowman?,” my four-year-old daughter whispered to me in the stalls.
“Let It Go, Mersina,” I replied. “It’s July.”
As if to prove that Love is an Open Door, many dutiful parents and grandparents accompanied their children to the theatre, joining in with gusto with the goodies in the party bag including a clapper used at choice moments, which needed a Fixer Upper just in case it fell apart.
Reindeers Are Better Than People but it was a Shaun the Sheep designed by Aardman founder Peter Lord who proved the star of the show on the way out of the theatre.
In Summer, the Shauns will keep the little ones happy. Until they get back home and want to put the Frozen DVD back on for the 100th time that week.
