Chart copyright Comscore

The fortieth anniversary reissue of Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back took nearly twice as much at the UK box office as new killer croc flick Black Water: Abyss, comfortably topping the chart as overall revenues doubled week-on-week. A note of caution is probably necessary at this point. While a few more cinemas opened, there are still no major new releases to tempt punters back and social distancing means that takings remain at an historic low. Pixar’s Onward is still the most popular 2020 release post-lockdown, while feelgood old favourites Grease, Dirty Dancing and The Shawshank Redemption all return to the chart, alongside the first Harry Potter flick. Should you wish to continue to relive your youthful Potterdom, you’ll be delighted to learn that the second one, The Chamber of Secrets, is back on the big screen from Friday.
