No change at the top this week as Free Guy and The Paw Patrol Movie comfortably held off the challenge from TV spin-off People Just Do Nothing: Big in Japan. Impressively, the Ryan Reynolds sci-fi comedy vehicle’s takings dropped by just 7%, suggesting it’ll be around for a while yet. Alas, last week’s rival, rather more cerebral science fiction flick, Reminiscence, fared markedly less well. In fact, it’s proven something of a worldwide flop. In the UK, the film took just £260,000 from a wide release, failing to make the top ten. Paramount’s attempt to ‘re-boot’ the G.I. Joe toy-flogging franchise with origin story Snake Eyes also seems to have fallen rather flat as it failed to make the top five. Just above it, Jungle Cruise became the latest covid-era film to reach £10m. And just outside the chart, Peter Rabbit 2 finally hopped over the £20m mark, becoming the first post-lockdown release to do so.
