Kinky Boots: The Musical

Director
Jerry Mitchell, Brett Sullivan
Certificate
12A
Running Time
132 mins

Kinky Boots, you’ll recall, was a 2005 boilerplate Britcom based on a true story. Charlie Price inherits the ailing family shoe factory in Northampton and sets out to save it from closure with a little help from a sparky shopfloor lassie. A chance meeting with lovable tranny Lola leads to the notion that they could corner a lucrative niche market by turning out footwear for the fetish crowd.

Recorded live at the Adelphi Theatre in London, this hit stage musical version boasts songs Cyndi Lauper, book by Broadway playwright Harvey Fierstein (La Cage Aux Folles), and direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell (Legally Blonde, Hairspray).
