The Human Voice + Q&A
- Director
- Pedro Almodovar
- Certificate
- 15
- Running Time
- 30 mins
Shot over nine days in Madrid back in July, Pedro Almodovar‘s short film (yes, that running time is correct) reimagines Jean Cocteau’s short play for the lockdown era. Tilda Swinton‘s unnamed character paces in panics in her decidedly Almodovar-esque Technicolor apartment, where the décor offers a window into her state of mind.
Should you fear that you’re being shortchanged by this 30 minute burst of prime Almodovar (his first English language film, fact fans), be reassured that the accompanying recorded Q&A is longer than the film itself. In a 45 minute chinwag, Mark Kermode grills the duo on the inspirations that they drew upon for their collaboration.
