The Most Beautiful Boy in the World

Director
Kristina Lindström, Kristian Petri
Certificate
15
Running Time
94 mins

In 1970, filmmaker Luchino Visconti scoured Europe in search of perfect boy to personify absolute beauty in his adaptation of Thomas Mann’s Death in Venice. In Stockholm, he discovered shy 15-year-old Björn Andrésen.

Fifty years on, this haunting documentary revisits the damaged Andrésen as he looks back on the trauma and abuse he suffered after being thrst into the limelight. Incidentally, if the adult Beautiful Boy seems slightly familar, that’s because you saw him being chucked off a cliff and having his head stoved in with a hammer in Midsommar.
