Total of 64 people arrested to date following Bristol riot

By Ellie Pipe  Thursday Jun 17, 2021

Police have arrested a further two people in connection with the ‘kill the bill’ riot on March 21, bringing the total number to 64.

A 20-year-old woman is the latest person to be arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and criminal damage. She has been released on bail so further enquiries can take place.

Police confirmed they also arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of violent disorder as the investigation into the clashes that took place outside Bridewell Police Station continues.

To date, 64 people have now been arrested following the events of March 21. A 14-year-old boy has also attended a voluntary interview.

A police van was set alight and windows of the police station smashed over the course of the night. Initial reports that officers suffered broken bones were later retracted.

The events of that night followed a protest opposing the government’s proposed Police, Crime, Sentencing & Courts Bill – the first of several that took place in the city.
