Jazz/Blues Fest preview: Cartoon Jazz

By Tony Benjamin  Monday Mar 2, 2015

Bristol International Jazz & Blues Festival, Colston Hall, Saturday March 7

Jazz and animation have gone hand in hand since the earliest days of both artforms, while the big cartoon films from Song of the South through to Frozen have provided some of the world’s best-loved songs.

So maybe it was inevitable that Big Buzzard Boogie Band maestro Andy Williamson would bring the two together for the 2015 festival’s big choral extravaganza.

Andy promises favourite tunes ‘as you’ve never heard them before’, with over 200 singers from community and school choirs, guests pianist Liam Noble and vocalist Celestine ‘The Voice’ Walcott-Gordon plus the mighty Buzzards themselves.

Festival programmer Denny Ilett says: These spectacular family events have become a regular festival highlight.
