The first May bank holiday has arrived and with comes plenty of ways to celebrate the three-day weekend. A new Harbourside food market begins on Friday to kick off the bank holiday in style, and, sticking with the food and drink theme, you can also enjoy a tipple at Bristol’s first wine festival, Crush, or raise a glass to toast the return of the East Bristol Brewery Trail.

Elsewhere, the first production in this year’s Bristol Old Vic Theatre School Directors’ Cuts season at Wardrobe Theatre continues until Saturday May 5 with Caroline Lang directing Sam Steiner’s acclaimed play Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons.

On bank holiday Monday, Spike Island Open Studios continues. The doors will fling open to see all the talented artists hard at work – read some of our interviews with the residents to see who to watch out for when you visit.
