Aviation fuel imports soar at Bristol Port to reach 10m tonne milestone: Bristol’s Royal Portbury Dock has imported its 10 millionth tonne of jet fuel, underpinning its position as one of the UK’s leading ports. The state-of-the-art import facilities at Royal Portbury opened in 2003 as a partnership between the Oil Pipeline Agency and The Bristol Port Company. Today they are owned by fuel importer Q8Aviation, which brings in the fuel from Kuwait in large tankers and stores it in tanks at the port before transferring it to a storage centre at London’s Heathrow Airport via the GPSS (Government Pipelines and Storage System). Signs emerging of stronger industrial market in Bristol, says agent: Bristol’s industrial property market is starting to strengthen at last, with a reduction in the incentives offered to new tenants a clear sign of the improvement, according to one city-based expert. Russell Crofts, long-serving industrial partner at agents Knight Frank’s Bristol office, says that although economic pressures remain acute, industrial landlords are now being less generous with their enticements to potential new tenants. New quieter and greener planes lined up for Bristol Airport-Brussels route: Passengers flying from Bristol Airport to Brussels will board a new, improved aircraft from the end of October following an agreement between Brussels Airlines and UK operator Flybe. The Belgian airline’s three-times daily service to Europe’s ‘capital’ is operated by Flybe under a contract which allows it to introduce a Bombardier Q400 on the popular route. Read more…
