See No Evil 2011

Maria Thereza – Alves Seeds of Change: A Floating  Seed Garden, Arnolfini (August 9)

Arnolfini hosts an intriguing project working with botanists who have planted seeds found amongst the old ballast crates of Bristol docks on board and old barge, thee result being a historical floatilla. The head planers and curator join to discuss the prject in more detail with willing viewers – art, botany and history combine! Free but advanced booking advised. For more info see: www.arnolfini.org.uk

Laydeez do Comics, Cafe Kino (August 8)

The first UK graphic novel forum led by women. Its focus is on comics work based on life narrative, and the drama of the domestic and the everyday. They usually meet monthly off Brick Lane, London, but they are venturing West for one night, to convene with some Bristol comics creators. Entry £1.50.

See No Evil 2012 (August 13-19)

Designed to bring alive Nelson Street and the Bristol Enterprise Zone, See No Evil will return for a second year featuring huge scale digital projections, music stages, after parties, a pop up gallery and live painting. For the second year, the project will take disused Bristol city-centre spaces and animate them over the weekend. For more info see: www.seenoevilbristol.co.uk

Bright Club: Super, Hamilton House (August 23)

The thinking person’s comedy club at Hamilton House. This month’s theme is “SUPER!” With stand up academics, comedian Chris Dunford and specially commissioned musical bits from singing physicist Martin Austwick. Starts 7pm, entry £5. For more info see: www.hamiltonhouse.org
