A man has been charged with the murder of a woman in broad daylight in Horfield on Saturday. Barach Bandavad, 38, from Bristol, is also charged with a robbery on the same day.
Judith Ege, aged 58, was fatally stabbed at a property at lunchtime on Saturday in Highbury Road.
Detectives have thanked members of the public for their help, but urged them to be on the lookout for the murder weapon.
Detective Chief Inspector Simon Crisp said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank members of the public for their help in locating the man we were searching for. He was arrested in the Southmead area in the early hours of this morning.
“We are still keen to hear from anyone who may know where this man was between midday yesterday [Saturday] and 1am this morning [Sunday]. Anyone who may know is urged to come forward; your information will be treated in confidence.
“This investigation is ongoing and I am extremely keen to locate a knife that may have been used in this incident.
“I would urge members of the public to remain vigilant and call the police if they locate this item. Please do not touch it.
“This was a tragic and isolated incident in which a woman has needlessly lost her life.”
Bandavad is expected to appear at Bristol Magistrate’s Court today.
