The trial of Dutch architect Vincent Tabak for the murder of Joanna Yeates has been provisionally set for October 4.

The 32-year-old, who lived in the same building as Joanna on Canynge Road, Clifton, appeared via videolink at Bristol Crown Court today in a preliminary hearing.

A provisional trial date has been set for October 4, but according to reports from the courtroom, the judge has stressed this is a provisional date. No bail application has been made by Tabak’s defence team.

Joanna, 25, was found dead on Christmas Day in Failand by a couple walking their dog. She had gone missing from her Clifton flat the weekend before Christmas. A post-mortem examination determined she had been strangled.

Her parents have released new pictures of her, including photos of the 25-year-old posing proudly at her graduation, joking with brother Chris, 28, and cuddling boyfriend Greg Reardon.

It was fellow architect Greg, 27 — returning from a visit to relatives in Sheffield — who raised the alarm after she disappeared from their home.

The pictures were handed over by Jo’s parents, supermarket worker Teresa, 58, and IT expert David, 63, for a planned re-enactment of her final movements due to be shown on BBC’s Crimewatch.

The appeal for information was cancelled after police arrested Vincent Tabak.
