Get on board for Bristol Harbour Festival
Record crowds are expected at this weekend’s Bristol Harbour Festival. So many, in fact, that organisers have expanded the traditional festival route to incorporate Castle Park, next to Broadmead and Bristol Bridge.
The Bristol Harbour Festival is one of the best-loved and most diverse festivals in the South West of England and one of the biggest free events in the country. Bristol’s beautiful city centre harbour comes alive with music, dance, circus, children’s entertainment, ships and boats, markets and fireworks for this popular spectacle.
The Bristol Village Fayre on the Amphitheatre will feature market stalls, music, games, street performances and interactive workshops, celebrating all things Bristolian.
The West Country Market and Bar provides a taste of the West, featuring local and sustainable food and crafts traders and locally brewed beer – and, of course, cider!
The Cookery School at Bordeaux Quay and Bristol Food Hub will be giving on-site demos and tastings, while local hero Ewan McLennan, championed by Radio 2, will perform his new album of folk music.
Batch Gueye with Lamp Fall and Martin Maudsley and Friends will also perform.
Don’t miss the Renewable Energy Stage, powered using renewable energy from a mix of bicycle power, turbine and solar generators, provided by Zia Solar & Magnificent Revolution (www.magnificentrevolution.org). Fingers crossed they generated enough power for their acts!
Families will also love the fireworks, scheduled for 10pm Saturday.
