Aerospace equipment specialist Microtecnica, which recently opened an office in Bristol, is using the Farnborough Air Show to underline its ambitions to become a global player in the sector.
It is the first time in the Italian-owned firm’s 80-year history that it has exhibited at the event, which serves as a shop window for the global aerospace and defence industries.

Microtecnica is using the show to unveil new products, including an electro-mechanical flight control actuator – one of the most-advanced developed for the aerospace industry — which has been developed by the Bristol office from an earlier product designed for unmanned aircraft.
It will also be announcing new contracts at the show with leading aircraft and helicopter manufacturers.
Microtecnica has won major new orders over the past few years from large aerospace groups including BAE Systems, Saab and helicopter manufacturer AgustaWestland.
The Bristol office has been set up to research, develop and patent new, innovative technologies in the electro-mechanical actuation field — an area which Microtecnica is targeting for future growth as it builds on its reputation as a world-class supplier.
The firm said it chose Bristol because the city is an established centre of expertise for aerospace innovation and home to many of the world’s leading aerospace businesses.
