Iqbal Tamimi: Nominated for award celebrating balanced, fair reporting

The award is given to journalists who have demonstrated fair, accurate and balanced reporting on an issue involving Muslims nationally or internationally.

Educated at the University of the West of England, and a member of the Bristol branch of the National Union of Journalists, Ms Tamimi is a volunteer at Radio Salaam Shalom – a pioneering radio station that aims to bring together Bristol’s Jewish and Muslim communities.

The Palestinian poet and journalist of 17 years’ experience will be in London on March 15 for the gala awards night attended by Home Secretary Alan Johnson, Shadow Home Secretary Chris Grayling and Liberal Deomcrat leader Nick Clegg.

The awards are given by The Muslim News newspaper, the largest independent Muslim newspaper in Britain, which in its 17-year history has attempted to share the experiences of Muslims as the community carves out its place in society.

salaam Iqbal! Im so proud of you!! You have done so much for so many-and touched hearts and joined hands world wide for a greater peace. Your dedication and hard work for the Palestinian cause and people is from your heart and so honorable. Many could have just walked away—you did not…your dedication to the women and children in this world is evident as well as combining all these wonderful qualities with intelligence, professionalism, and unbias thought. You are truly an inspiration to all!

    Dear Iqbal,
You are my hero, I was inspired to do so much for Palestine under apartheid because of you and Palestinian Mothers Online that you created. Without the amazing people I met through Palestinian Mothers I would not have the knowledge that I have today, nor the inspiration. It is tough being in the USA, with so many Zionist Jews here, but because of you, my work eventually led to a very successful protest of a war criminal named Ben Tzion Gruber….
Iqbal, I dream of meeting you one day!
    Love from USA,

Such good news, she has tapped into something very important in her blog, that women make up 50% of this world, and cannot be ignored, she is a brave warrior out there where the barbs and arrows of society at large do not take kindly to a muslim woman having such forceful opinions. And she is Palestinian, even more important in the battles we continue to fight for their freedom. Well done Iqbal, enjoy the trip to London!

  16. John Webster says:

    Congratulations Iqbal!

  17. James Leeds says:

This is great news and a tribute to a wonderful woman. We live in terrible times – the governments of the US and UK amongst others are under the control of a violently racist doctrine, namely Zionism, using political bribery, media control and blatant lies to maintain and extend power. After all, it’s now official – there’s no actual shortage of Holocaust Survivors:

Quote from The Holocaust Industry by Norman G. Finkelstein of the City University of New York, published by Verso in the year 2000:

‘The Israeli Prime Minister’s office recently put the number of “living Holocaust survivors” at nearly a million.’ (page 83)

is instinctive, perceptive, determined, strong-willed; stubborn and magnetic,,, realistic, flexible and adaptable,,, remarkably kind and moral person with VALUES…willing to sacrifies her self for the cause she loves,,,
Iqbal, my dear daughter, TOUGH TIMES NEVER LAST, TOUGH PEOPLE DO…
PALESTINE and the WORLD need more people like you.

Congratulations to Iqbal Tamimi and to Palestinian Mothers website . Iqbal’s work as a Muslim woman with Palestinian and regional journalists has brought so much to the table where information and truth become the cornerstones of justice and human rights activism.

Knowing that such a one as Iqbal is striving for excellence in Muslim journalism inspires every agency to bring their finest efforts to bare to present world news seen through Muslim eyes.

It is refreshing to look into Iqbal’s site and learn about news from the Muslim perspective, especially for me, a western worlder, looking east with love.
